Hi Dr Sher, I had a FET of a PGS normal embryo. My first beta was 80 on 9dp5dt. Two days later is only rose to 112. My 3rd beta test was 190. Since the 3rd beta my levels have at least been doubling in 48 hours. I’m now 6w4d and my beta was 27,120. On today’s US they saw a gestestional sac and yolk, but could not see a fetal pole. They recommended I stop all medications and miscarry. Would you recommend that too?
I would repeat the US in 1 week first…Just to be sure!

I am soon to be 37-year-old woman with has never been pregnant and who has low AMH of 0.45. All other laboratory test have been in the normal range (HSG and lab work). This year I have experienced two IVF cycle failures (#cycle 1- 10 eggs retrieved, 6 mature, 4 fertilized, all arrested) with the second cycle ending with one genetically abnormal blastocyst (#2, 10 nature eggs retrieved, eight fertilized, 1 blastocyst 44XX). As you can imagine it has been trying times for me. Is there anything that I can do personally to increase the chance of competent eggs during the next IVF cycle? Thank you, Linda
Hi, thanks for taking the time to answer questions! I am 34 and AMH is 0.6. Fsh usually 9 but one time was 15. I had an Ivf with microdose Lupron and birth control leading into the cycle, which I responded very slowly to, only had 5 mature eggs, one fertilized, ultimately failed. I’ve had 2 IUI’s since with only gonal-f 300 units and a good response in terms of egg numbers (3-4 eggs each time at 18mm by cycle day 12). Im on an estrogen priming IVF protocol right now. Began on prior cycle day 21 with 2mg estrace every 8 hours, will continue it at that dose throughout the stimulantion. On cycle day 3, my estrogen was 551 with 5 antral follicles, and I began Gonal-f at 300iu. Cycle day 6, estrogen was 550 with 12 follicles <10mm. Gonal-F reduced to 225 daily and began menopur 150 daily. Cycle day 8 (today) 13 follicles <10mm and estrogen still 550. Menopur will be increased to 225 and Gonal-f is to stay at 225. The nurse said that I’m responding slowly and we will “make decisions” in 2 days (cycle day 10). My question is, do my meds seem appropriate or is my estrogen dose too high or being continued too long and suppressing me? I had no issue with slow growth on the gonal-f alone, so is the estrogen being counter-productive? Thanks!
Hi Dr. Sher,
My husband and I have infertility on the basis of severe male factor requiring microTESE and now diminished ovarian reserve. We had a baby boy in 4/16 after FET of my one remaining blastocyst after 2 failed cycles of fresh IVF at age 34-35 (I just turned 36 when delivered). We are trying for a second baby just after I turned 37. I had 3 failed IVF cycles at age 37, 2 fresh cycles which were negative and 1 FET of 3BB blastocyst which resulted in miscarriage at 5.5 weeks. I did multiple back to back cycles from Jan-June to bank embryos and now have 4 six-day blastocysts – grades 3BB, 1BB, 3BC, and 2BB. I am planning to have a FET in early August. I turned 38 in April. Would you recommend transfer of 1 or 2 blastocysts? I really don’t want twins as I already have a 2 year old son and also am trying to avoid any high risk problems that comes with carrying with twins but at the same time, really want to increase my chances of pregnancy. Thanks
I currently undergoing a fourth IVF cycle. On my first cycle, there was no pregnancy and on my second, I ended up with a beautiful baby. Both times I got two day 5 embryos. I am thirty five now and just tried my third and forth cycle (my little one is 2 1/2). During my ultrasounds things seemed to be progressing along quite well and keeping in tradition with my previous two cycles. Number of eggs is around 10-12. However the embryos are growing poorly this time around and number of good quality embryos by the day 3 is lower than before. I wonder why things have went so poorly now?
