  1. Hi Dr. Sher. I am 39. I read an article with the basic premise saying that triggering older ladies earlier – so when the lead follicle is 16 instead of 18-20 is more successful. Do you agree?

    • Respectfully, I do not concur!

  2. Hello Dr. Sher! What are the chances of a pregnancy being viable if a first-check 14-day beta is around 30? I know that repeat tests to demonstrate 48-hour doubling times are the crucial piece here, but how much less likely are beta numbers under 50 at 14DPO apt to be viable? I’ve heard in some place that starting number is totally irrelevant and what’s more important is a good doubling time…I’ve also heard that under 50 is very likely a miscarriage or ectopic. Can you clear up the confusion?

    • It is impossible for me to comment authoritatively without knowing much more with regard to your treatment and timing of the procedures done (e.g egg retrieval/hCG “trigger/embryo transfer etc). This having been said, there is a chance that this could be a viable implantation but you will need to be patient hand do serial hCG tests every 48 hrs for a few go rounds.

      Good luck!

  3. Hello Dr. Sher
i have read everyone’s question here goes mine. I have 5 children normal pregnancy’s and 1, 3 year old boy IVF. My uterus lining was 16mm and my son implanted well 2 weeks after i had a 3 day period with clots however baby was born fine and full term. Aug. 29 2019 i went back for a baby girl my lining again was 16mm frozen embryo was hatch on it own but sept. 4 i had a horrible bleeding for 10 days non stop. 1 blood work was HCG <1 on sept 15th sonogram said everything look good inside no baby nor sac. I stop all meds on Sept.14. I experience horrible pain on my lower back i went to e.r and again negative pregnancy on ultrasound HCG 5. Now my stomach is growing and i feel very very pregnant all symptoms. I have continued my regular life back however i feel so pregnant very sleepy. I am in Texas Texaekana no doctors here are familiar with IVF however on October 23rd they will retest and sonogram since my lower stomach is hard and growing. I would really appreciate any answer or advice. I am 39 years old mother of 6 grandmother of 4 🙂

    • Hi Mariana. Based on w2hat you are telling me, it is very unlikely that you are pregnant. There are many other causes of abdominal distention. You need to be thoroughly evaluated to see what is going on. If there is no doctor where you live who you have confidence in, you should go out of the area.

Please keep me in the loop!

  4. 14 days post IUI Beta Hcg= 20
16 days post IUI Beta Hcg=30.6
Will repeat test 20 days post IUI.
What is the probability that this is a viable pregnancy?

    • The slow rise in the hCG level is somewhat discouraging but there is hope. The level needs to be at or above 120U by day 20.

      Good luck!

      Geoff Sher

  5. I had a chemical pregnancy in February of 2019 and have not been able to get pregnant again since. My doctor prescribed me clomid. I took it last month and it succeeded in making my ovulate but I did not become pregnant. I should mention that I have confirmed ovulation on about day 18 of my cycle and have a 14 day luteal phase. My husband does have a varicocele. Could that be causing a problem? I am assuming we are both fine as we were able to get pregnant once even though it was chemical. I had had cycle day 3 blood work and an ultrasound which were normal. Any ideas on what could be wrong here? We have been trying for 14 months.

    • Hi Stella,

I would love to advise you, but the information provided in your post is totally insufficient to allow for an authoritative opinion. We really should talk (see below).

      INTRODUCING SHER FERTILITY SOLUTIONS (SFS)
Hitherto I have personally performed IVF- treatment and related procedures on patients who, elected to travel to Las Vegas to be managed by me. However, with the launching of Sher-Fertility Solutions (SFS) in April 2019, I have taken on a new and expanded role. Now, rather than having hands-on involvement I confine my services to providing hour-long online Skype consultations to an ever-growing number of patients (emanating from >40 countries), with complex Reproductive problems, who seek access to my input, advice and guidance. All Skype consultations are followed by a detailed written report that meticulously describes and explains my recommendations for treatment. All patients are encouraged to share this report with their personal treating doctor(s), with whom [subject to consent and a request from their doctor] I will, gladly discuss their case with the “treating Physician”.
Through SFS I am now able to conveniently provide those who because of geography, convenience and cost, prefer to be treated at home or elsewhere by their chosen Infertility Physician.
“I wish to emphasize to all patients with whom I consult, that in the final analyses, when it comes to management, strategy, protocol and implementation of treatment, my advice and recommendations are always superseded by that of the hands-on treating Physician”.

Anyone wishing to schedule a Skype consultation with me, can do so by: Calling my concierge (Patti Converse) at 1-800-780-7437 (in the U.S.A or Canada) or 702-533-2691, for an appointment. Patients can also enroll online on my website, http://www.SherIVF.com, or email Patti at concierge@SherIVF.com .
I was very recently greatly honored in receiving an award by the prestigious; International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). For more information, go to the press release on my website, http://www.sherIVF.com .
