  1. Hello, I recently found out I am pregnant via a home test at 10dpo. On 11dpo, I began some light spotting which changed to full on heavy bleeding over the weekend. At 14 dpo I had a beta hcg done and my level was a 14, and at 17 dpo (not quite 72 hours apart) by hcg was 43. I’m still bleeding heavily, but the dr was surprised my level had gone up. Any hope here? Or am I doomed to lose this pregnancy?

    • Hi Nikki!

It is possible that you are implanting an embryo, in spite of the bleeding. However, only time will tell through serial blood hCG measurements and ultimately around 6-7 weeks,…an US.

      I wish you the best!

  2. We did not PGS/T test. Both day 8 cell (one was compacting) Day5 fresh transfers failed. Currently, we have 3 frozen embryos remaining:
Day 5-1AB (one is the lowest number at our clinic, six is the highest)
    Day 6-4AB & 1AB

Should we transfer the 4AB and if that fails then try transferring both of the 1ABs together OR should the embryos of the same day be transferred together (Day 6-4AB & 1AB)? Does the day it was frozen matter, in regards to implantation, if it is mixed with another embryo frozen from a different day?

And finally, should we be hopeful that one of these will work?

    • I think your plan A is the way I would go!

      Good luck!

  3. Hi Dr Sher,
I hope you’re well. I started my FET cycle 8 days ago (taking estrace 2 x day, then increased to 3 x day) but when I went for my ultrasound this morning the dr discovered a 16mm follicle growing on my right ovary. I have the option of continuing with the transfer as long as I don’t ovulate before starting progesterone. What’s your opinion on this? Are there any downsides to continuing with the transfer with a growing follicle intact? I have been told to continue estrace 3 x day and I will be monitored closely. My current levels are as follows (Day 8 of estrace):
    Lining – 8.4
    Estrogen – 180
    Progesterone – 0.4

What do you advise in this situation? Should I continue or is it safer to cancel. I only have a few embryos so don’t want to take any chances!

Many thanks for all you do!

    • The blood estrogen may be on the low side and require tweaking. Notwithstanding, I would proceed with the FET.

  4. Hi Dr Sher,
I put this question first on side “Embryo Mosaicism: What You Need to Know”, but the I realized this forum.

I have had euploid embryo transferred last december, but it did not lead to pregnancy.
Now I have one embryo left with description: Mosaic monosomy of autosome 18 (~30%). In addition HLA-C typing is made and it is suitable for me.
Would You transfer this embryo? What is the success rate for pregnancy and to having a healthy baby? I know that some additional testing is required if the transfer is successful, but is it worth trying at all?

    Thank You!

    Helen

    • Hi Helen. Yes, in my opinion, this embryo could be transferred. However the chance of success is largely affected by your age because this in turn would impact the chance of its autocorrection in the uterus!

  5. Dr Sher, my wife did a FET transfer:

    10dp 255 hcg
    12dp 590
    16dp 2729
    18dp 4479
19dp and 20dp : There was mild bleeding.
21dp (5w5d pregnant) : Ultrasound, we saw the sac and heartbeat.
26dp (6w3d pregnant): She bled heavily(bright red) and passed clots and we thought she miscarried.
28dp (6w5d pregnant): Ultrasound and doctor couldn’t see the sac or the baby. HCG was 38K odd. Doctor told she might have miscarried already but they want to keep an eye on HCG levels till it goes down to 0.
30dp(7 weeks): HCG rose to 45K odd.

Now, we are confused. We saw the baby and heartbeat at 5w5d but nothing at 6w5d. But then why is the HCG still rising?
Note: Wife has stage 4 endometriosis and was on Lovenox (40) till 6w5d.

We are going in a day after for another ultrasound.
Please let us know if we still should have our hopes up or do you think its over and the HCG will eventually come down?
    Thank you!

    • I wish I could shed a light on what is going on here. The rising hCG leaves a glimmer of hope that the pregnancy is still intact and that it was possibly missed on the last US.

Please keep me in the loop here by posting after the next US.

      Good luck!

    • Is there any hope to freeze eggs? I am 44. It’s really my last chance to hold out for my own child. Do you have any success stories of a 44 year’s old frozen eggs yeilding a healthy baby later on? I tried egg retrieval at 42 and got 16 eggs, so I don’t have a deficiency problem.
