I am 38 and gearing up for IVF #2. For my first IVF I stimmed with Gonal F (450), Menopur (2 vials), Cetrotide and HGH. I triggered with an Hcg and Lupron combo. I had 15 mature eggs, 10 day 5 blasts and only 2 normal embryo. Could the low normal of embryos be indicative of my age or stimulation protocol?
The competency of your embryos is undoubtedly influenced by age and the protocol used for ovarian stimulation. However, 2 PGS-normal blastocysts is not bad at 38Y.

Hi my name is Courtney and my husband I have been trying to have a baby for about 3 years now. We have finally decided we are ready to see a doctor. I have an appointment with my obgyn next week and I have had a lot of people tell me to have him start me on Clomid before seeing a fertility specialist. I want to know what is your advice on that. Also I know that I do have pcos and weight has always been an issue for me I have recently lost 30 pounds however I am still about 60 pounds overweight will a doctor deny me treatment?

I advise against starting any fertility hormone treatment until a thorough evaluation has been done. And no…I do not believe that you will be denied treatment!

Hi, I had egg collection yesterday, the doctor informed me that the hcg trigger that I had 36 hours prior had worked too well, as the eggs had already started to come out of the follicles, is that common? Very disappointed as not all the follicles grown contained an egg, also our fresh transfer has been cancelled and I have been advised I will have a frozen transfer in a few months. Iv got PCOS, if that’s a factor. Thanks
I doubt it had to do with the trigger working too well. In my opinion, the protocol used for ovarian stimulation and its implementation is more likely to be the reasone.

I just had my transfer yesterday of two 6 day blastocysts that tested PGS normal. I have two more that were frozen. I had 28 eggs retrieved. 24 fertilized. 17 made it to day 3 and was down to 10 by day 5. Out of the 10 tested, only 4 were normal. Does this look like our troubles might have been embryo quality? It just boggle my mind that out of 24 embryos, only 4 were actually normal.

I doubt there was a fundamental egg issue. The 2 major factors that impact egg/embryo quality are woman’s age and the protocol used for ovarian stimulation.

I Doctor I’m 50 years I have 6 kids already …my issues are I had my tubes tied and had a partial hysterectomy so I still have my Fallopian tubes. I got married about 7 years ago and my husband would like a baby . I had the AMH blood test done it came back at 0.15 ng/ml…. My question is is it possible to take fertility drugs and retrieve a few good eggs? I really need to know all of my options if my clock is out of time. Thanks very much for your time.
