  1. Hi Dr!! I am 44, with 4 miscarriages in the past 4 years, no children (did not even try begore this). I was late, did pregnancy test and came out positive (aprox. 5 weeks since last period).
    HCG=2825 and progesterone at 25. Began progesterone supplement.
    48 hrs later HCG=3838.
    Another HCG (4 days after last one)=6559.
    No bleeding or real pain.
    Dic said keep taking supplements in case…
    Ultrasound is scheduled for this week.
    Is there hope or will this be loss #5?

  2. Hello Dr Sher,

    Thank you for taking the time to respond to queries at such a difficult time for so many of us.

    I had an FET done on 03 May 2021.

    My hcg levels at 10dp5dt = 28
    12dp5dt = 83
    14dp5dt = 269
    17dp5dt = 1070
    22dp5dt = 2018

    I was called in for a US yesterday (5 weeks and 6 days/22 dp5dt) to make sure everything is in the right place but my specialist couldn’t find a proper gestational sac. She thinks there may be one but it’s measuring very small. She said rarely it could be delayed and is playing catch up due to initial low beta. Otherwise she said the embryo may have stopped growing sometime last week.

    She has obviously asked for a repeat US in 7 days.

    Dr what is my prognosis of a viable pregnancy under the current circumstances? Is there any hope? Should she have been able to detect a sac today? Why couldn’t she?

    Although my doc has ruled out ectopic, is there a risk at all?

    Thank you very much for your time.

    • It is not possible to say with confidence. It could just be too early. A repeat US in 1 week should be definitive. If by then there is still no detectable intrauterine gestation and the blood hCG remains high, a tubal/ectopic pregnancy is another possibility.

      Discuss all this with your treating RE…sooner rather than later.

      Good luck!

  3. I recently had a 5 day transfer on 5/7. I found out I was pregnant on 5/17. My levels were:
    Hcg: 180, progesterone 22.4 and estradiol 164.
    I went back on 5/19 and my levels rose to:
    Hcg 384, progesterone 19.4 and estradiol 234.
    Last night I had a lot of bleeding (blood clots) it lasted about an hour and then tapered off. I still have some bleeding but only when I wipe. I went to the doctor this morning 5/25 and they said my bloodwork looked great and can’t explain the bleeding. My levels today were:
    Hcg 2095.00, progesterone 22.2 and estradiol 209.
    Should I be worried this is a miscarriage? What would cause this type of bleeding if it isn’t?

    • It is possible that this bleeding came from a local cause (cervical or vaginal). The numbers are still strong. Try to take it easy and do an US in 1 week.

      Good luck!

  4. Hi!!
    I am 44, with 4 early miscarriages in the past 4 years (did autoimmune, karyotype, blood clotting tests, all fine except heterocygote clotting factors). My period was late, and got a positive pregnancy test at about 5 weeks after my last period. Did HCG=2825 and progesterone=25 (began progesterone supplement and Clexane). 48 later HCG=3838. Then, 4 days after this last one HCG=6559.
    Doc says keep the supplements, just in case… but this does not look good, does it? Is there any hope, or will this be loss #5? I have an ultrasound this week.
    Thanks!!

  5. 9dp5dt HCG was 118
    13dp5dt HCG is 344

    Should I prepare for the worst? Doubling time of only 62 hours

    • Give it a little longer. Repeat the hCG and do an US at 6-7 weeks for more information.
