Hello,
We transferred our only embryo May 11th. Since then I’ve had two scans (6w2d measured 6w1d 125bpm and 8w2d measured 8w2d 185bpm). Is the last scan considered fetal tachycardia? Are higher heart rates associated with chromosome abnormalities? I’m planning on having the NIPT test done but have to wait until at least ten weeks.
Frankly, I think all is likely to turn out to be OK.
I wish you well!

Hello, doctor. I am 26 weeks pregnant. I just had my glucose test and the results are pretty scary.
First glucose level on empty stomachwas 76.
Second glucose level, after drinking 75 gr of glucose in a glass of water, one hour later was also 76 and 3rd glucose level, two hours later was 77.
Are low glucose levels often in pregnancy or should I be worried? Thank you.
I would not be overly concerned. However, discuss with your obstetrician.

Hi
I had a miscarriage earlier in the year and after a couple weeks my doctor gave me the all clear to start trying again (HCG levels = 0). A couple cycles later I got a positive on CD43 . Bloodwork the next day showed HCG =53. Could it be possible that I ovulated later than normal (usually a 35 week cycle)? Do you find cycles (and ovulation times) after miscarriage are more irregular?
They are often irregular for a few cycles after miscarriage. Bear in mind that you usually you will ovulate around 14 days before the expected period. So it is quite possible that your ovulation time was off! Repeat your hCG test in 2 days to see if the level; doubles as it should. The if it continues to rise, do an US in 2-3weeks.

Good luck!
Hello Dr. Sher. I am taking Saizen growth hormone (IVF) as I am trying for a baby. My breasts feel a little sore and as though they are getting bigger, and I can feel my Fallopian tubes pulling. Is this normal/to be expected? I’d be most grateful for your response. Sylvana
Saizen should not cause these symptoms. Perhaps they are due to some of the hormone changes that can occur with ovarian stimulation…but not the Saizen…in my opinion!

Hi Dr Sher,
My doctor is on leave this week, so I thought I would pose this question to you after seeing your great answers!
I’ve had 1 x MC and 1 x CP in the last 10 months, and am currently 6w3d pregnant. Because I’m quite nervous, my doctor has given me a bunch of referrals for blood tests and ultrasounds so that I can do them when I want to.
I’ve done three blood tests for HCG so far and the numbers were:
12 days after ovulation – 48
19 days after ovulation – 858
27 days after ovulation – 19,650
I was planning on going again tomorrow (about 6w4d) but suspect that my hcg is at a level now where it may not double at a rate that is meaningful or makes me feel confident, or even less worried!
Would you suggest there is any value in getting the blood test, or would a scan be the next thing I should do. I haven’t wanted to get a scan until I’m sure I will see something (or not!) after the distress of a blighted ovum that wasn’t picked up until my first scan at 10 weeks last year.
Thank you and have a wonderful day.
Suzanne
I would NOT do any further blood tests. I would suggest an US at 7 weeks!
Good luck!
