  1. I had a miscarriage (blighted ovum) 6.8.21 and HCG levels were back to zero by 6.16.21.

I tested positive on a UPT on 7.1.21 already.
My first HCG was 58, progesterone level of 30.2.
49 hours later my second HCG level was 171.
I have no idea how far along I am but does this look promising? I’ve lost 5 babies so far so this is the 6th pregnancy trying to conceive our last and final baby, hoping for good news!

    • You need an US in about 14 days from now for a more definitive answer.

      Good luck!

  2. Dear Dr Sher, in September last year you kindly helped me with my question about my falling progesterone level, low Estrogen but appropriately rising hcg (it was 128 at 11dp3dt and 552 at 19dp3dt- 57 hour doubling time). You recommended serial betas and a scan to check viability of pregnancy.
Unfortunately, I did end up miscarrying at 7 weeks and the baby found to have trisomy 18. Devastating.
Well, I’m pregnant again after another double transfer. This time my hcg was 225 at 9dp5dt, progesterone 68 Ng/ml and Estrogen 380 Ng/ml.
Now, at 12dp5dt, my hcg is 680 (doubling time of 43 hours) but my progesterone has again dropped a huge amount (down to 47). I’m terrified history is repeating itself.
    Estrogen has increased slightly.
    Is there any hope?
    Thank you.

    • Unfortunately, all you can do is have your RE supplement progesterone and thereafter, as hard as it is to do, you need to take a wait and see approach!

      Good luck and G-d bless!!

  3. Hello Dr Sher,
I have 8 euploid embryos after 1 IVF cycle. Ideally I would like to have 2 children. Would it make sense to bank more embryos or should I proceed with the transfer considering my age I’m 38 yo. Thank you!

    • I think 8 should be sufficient!

      Good luck!

  4. Good evening Doctor , may I ask you something very urgent and important to me? 10 days before the embryotransfer, I was given a 150 ml 20% Intralipid dropper and dripped for 1.5 hours and then 200 ml sodium chloride was dripped in 5 minutes. I read that i need to drip at least 3 hours. The next day after Intralipid I started Medrol 16 mg one tablet every morning. The embryo transfer will take place on Thursday, July 8, do I need to drip Intralipid again on the same day ? I live in Greece, they don’t drip here for more than 1 hour. Sincerely, Inga. I am really looking forward for your answer. Thank you.

    • In my opinion, the second infusion would only be needed with a +ve blood pregnancy test.

      Good luck!

  5. Hi Dr. Sher,

When is the best time in the cycle to have the endemetrial scratch in advance of a FET?

    • I do not advocate the use of the endometrial scratch procedure at all! asI do not think it helps.
