  1. Dear Mr. Sher,
I am 37 years old and currently go through rounds of egg freezing for personal reasons (AMH of 1,4 ng, FSH of 8,5). So far I have only stimulated with Gonal f of 225 units. In my January Cycle 13 eggs were retrieved and 11 frozen. In my March Cycle 6 eggs were retrieved and 4 frozen. Same protocol but huge difference in outcome. Obviously i dont know anything about the quality because they are not yet developed.
    My questions:
    1) How many eggs would you recommend freezing in total to have a realisic chance?
    2) I have extremely low androgen and Testosterons levels (below the minimum value). DHEAS levels are ok. My doctor thinks it is great however I heard that some testosterone is necessary for good egg quality. Would you recommend adding LH, eg for example 225 Gonal F and 1 ampoule Menogon?
For your information: I did 3 IVFs two years ago with Gonal F and we always had only one blastocyst per cycle (excellent quality though). And i did have one Trisomie 13 miscarriage.
    Your help is highly appreciated

    • 1) How many eggs would you recommend freezing in total to have a realisic chance?
      A: 15 or more

A: I do not! The hCG/LH in the meogon will insure sufficient ovarian testosterone.

      Good luck!

  2. Dr Sher,

I was wondering if it was okay to do 5mg of prednisone 3 days before and after FET rather than a longer course?

    • No! That is too late to be of benefit. The steroids need to begin >1 week prior to ET…preventable 10-14 days prior.

  3. Good day, I am on day 4 of injections with suprefact, Gonal-f and luveris. I have been doing my injections in the evening at 7pm. I have an overseas trip on Sunday that might affect my ability to inject in the night, so i want to change injection times to morning. So if i do my next injections tonight, can I also inject tomorrow morning and carry on injecting in the mornings from there on?

I am doing my IVF with an overseas clinic and due to time diff, it takes a while for my nurse to respond to my emails, hence my asking you. Many, many, thanks in advance!

    • You can try to adjust the timing of the shots but frankly, I do not believe that the time difference will really matter.

  4. Dear Dr. Sher, I had two day 5 ET in 1st week of March 2017. After the 2 week wait, my beta HCG level is 1486.78. i have been asked to repeat the test again next week. Is there anything to worry in this? are the levels normal?

    • You need an ultrasound to see if there is a viable intrauterine conceptus.

  5. I am on day 6 of stims (lupron, menopur and microdose ovidrel). I am having bloodtests to check e2 and lh. Can i also test for AMH now? I didn’t test beforehand and i am curious.

Will the ivf stim injections affect the AMH results in any way?

    • No! there is no merrit in doing this now.
