Hi Dr. Sher,
I just had ultrasound today and I am measuring 6 weeks 4 days with a heart rate of 105. In my research this seems very low for this time. Does that heart rate seem cause for concern to you? is miscarriage inevitable?
It doers not make miscarriage inevitable, but frankly this is rather alarming.

Dear Dr Sher,
My clinic wants to retrieve a follicle that has been growing in the luteal phase. I am CD25 today. Will retrieving this follicle mean that my period will be delayed( eg it will come after 14 days or so) or will it come much sooner? And will using HCG in the luteal phase affect the quality and number of follicles in the immediate follicular phase? I am more interested in not throwing my cycles off but maintaining regularity so do you think luteal phase retrieval is ok to do?
Honestly and respectfully, I would personally not do this.

Hi Dr Sher – we have a frozen embryo from an IVF cycle in May 2013, that returned with “no signal” on the PGD analysis. It is a 2CC embryo and the doctor at our clinic said the chance of pregnancy with this embryo would be relatively low. Given advances in technology since 2013, would you say that the chances for this embryo may be better than they would have been in 2013, or are the advances irrelevant to a 2CC embryo and therefore there is no point in transferring it? Many thanks for your time and attention!
Grading systems of blastocysts differ so I cannot comment on the morphologic quality of this one. However, the absence of a “signal” alone is not enough reason to discard this embryo. If it was a cellular and expanded blastocyst at the time of freezing it possibly can still propagate a viable pregnancy.
Good luck!

Hi Dr Sher, I know it is new but what do you think of PRP – Platelets rich plasma . There was a case on the news where it was placed in uterus of a IVF patient and she is pregnant. I guess it helped w/ attachment of embryo…thanks lynn
I did not see that…so cannot comment authoritatively.
Sorry!

Dear Dr Sher,
I am finally pregnant through egg donor after many years and many failures using my own eggs and 1 other donor. I am 10 weeks today and have been told to stop oestrogen and progesterone today at 10 weeks. I am a bit nervous about this and a Google search indicates that some people take progesterone to 12 or even 14 weeks. I had a minor bleed at 6 weeks and spotting at 9 weeks so I am a bit anxious. Last ultrasound at 9 weeks and 1 day showed all was good. Twins measuring 9w 1 day with heartbeats at 185. In your opinion is there any need to continue with progesterone through the first trimester ?
No…In my opinion you can stop at 10 weeks!
