Hi Dr Sher,
I am 2 days past 5 day embryo transfer. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Does this mean it did not work?
Not at all…TOO EARLY by at least a week!

Hi Dr. sher,
Would you please let me know what is the optimum progesterone level an day of Frozen embryo transfer. I was on progesterone IM and my physician insists on keeping the level above at least 30. On the day of transfer it was > 40. I did have chemical pregnancy and was wondering if too high of progesterone can lead to uterine/embryo asynchrony.
It depends on whether you use vaginal/oral or intramuscular progesterone as well as the type of progesterone you use. Ideally >210ng/ml but 10-20 ng/ml is also OK. However, if you are on vaginal progesterone, such as Endometrin or Crinone 8% , alone, it can be lower, without there being any detriment.

Good morning. I had a fresh embryo 3 day transfer on 8/28/20. On 9/9/2020 I got a positive result with HCG at 107. My levels are not doubling but increasing consistently. As of yesterday my levels were 1874 and I am 5 weeks and 5 days. My obgyn saw no fetal pole on my ultrasound yesterday. She said I can stop my progesterone as this appears to be a non viable pregnancy or wait a week and check again. She doesn’t think there is a chance. Was just looking for another opinion. Thank you for your time.
I would give it 1 week and re-test before stopping!

Hi Dr. Sher,
I had a IVF cycle with 1 day 5 blastocyst that as far as I know implanted succes full as I got a positive test around my missed period. At the moment I have cramps and l am loosing blood as if it is a period. About 4 days before the test, I felt the trigger HCG shot hormones leaving my body: no painful breast, emotional etc etc (and a positive test turn negative). As HCG supports progesteron, and a sudden drop of progesteron causes the onset of you period, I am now wondering if this bleeding/starting of my period, could have been caused by the sudden drop of HCG and thus progesteron instead of failure of the embryo? I am taking Duphaston, previously 30 mg (3 x 10 mg per day), since yesterday I increased the morning and late night dose to 20 mg each time (so 50 mg per day).
My question is if its possible the embryo might be good, but the shedding of the lining is caused by either the drop of HCG or by supplementing to little, and if it would be to late, now that the shedding of the lining has started to increase progesteron in hopes to keep it from completely coming out?
I forgot to mention I am 36 and have diminished ovarian reserve. (had 3 eggs at retrieval, 2 fertilized only 1 made it to blastocyst).
This is a tough call. However, I amm not very optimistic for you here. ..hope I am mistaken. I am afraid only time can tell.!
Good luck!

Hello Dr.
I had a frozen embryo transfer done 2 days ago. I had an orgasm today. Do you think that will affect the outcome?
Thanks.
Cheryl
No!…but I would avoid sexual intercourse until you have US confirmation of a viable pregnancy!
