Dear dr. Sher,
I’m really confused at the moment and would love to hear your views about my case please:
I’m supposed to be 6w3d pregnant according to my last period date (could be off a bit). My beta hcg levels’ evolution looks great, but on my scan from 2 days ago & today results are inconclusive (2days ago we only saw an empty sac and its size indicated a 5w2d pregnancy), today the sac size indicates a pregnancy of 5w4d but we couldn’t see a proper embryo inside, neither a heart beat- just a small something at the bottom of the sac.
Since my Hcg levels are good, my doctor wants me to go back in 2 days to repeat the tests. I just don’t want to keep my hopes up if this is really not happening and I should rather prepare for a negative outcome. Or is there maybe some hope indeed from a medical view point?
My BTs: dates based on last period date
5w3d Sep15: 419 + US
5w6d Sep18: 1282 (3x higher)
6w2d Sep21: 3031 (3x higher)
6w3dcSep22: 5649 (+85%) today
My cycles have been a bit jumping in the last few months btw 26 to 33 days.
I would so much appreciate doctor to hear your take on this? I can’t thank you enough for the help you provide with your blog to all of us ladies struggling with this.
Kind regards,
Diana
It could be too early! Wait a week and repeat the US. That should be definitive!
Good luck!

Hi Dr.
I am 3 days past 5 day transfer. My doctor is having me do the progesterone shots every other day and not everyday. Is this normal?
Thanks.
Alaya
It depends on the dosage and type of PIO, also whether you are taking vaginal or oral additional progesterone.
I recommend daily PIO shots.

Hello Dr. Sher,
I had FET on 09/09 and beta HCG is 118 and P4: 28 today and doctor told me that it looks positive.
However, Ovitrelle 250 mcg was taken on 09/20 and somehow I have a feeling that today’s report is based on that.
Also, today doctor asked me to have one more Ovitrelle and repeat the test on 09/25.
Does it look okay to you?
Thanks in advance!
No doubt the Ovidrel is playing a role here since you took this form of hCG but a few days ago!
Good luck!
Geoff Sher
Sorry I meant the switch to medicated FET from natural FET was to try and improve the timing of transfer.
Hi Dr Sher,
I’ve had multiple cycles of IVF in the past year (I’m 39). The first 3 cycles resulted in 9-12 eggs retrieved, with 6-9 mature, growing into 6 blastocysts. I then had surgery for endometriosis on the recommendation of my doctor, which found moderate endometriosis on the left pelvic wall. Since then I have done another 4 cycles of IVF. Each cycle I’ve had at least 6 mature follicles at the time of trigger (dual), but very rarely are any mature eggs retrieved. My hormone test results are all fine. Any ideas what we can do?
nb. I had non-pelvic surgery five years ago and rapidly threw a lot of scar tissue. If I rapidly threw scar after the laparoscopy, could that affect the maturation of my eggs?
